Recent guests appreciate the unique themed setting, attentive staff, and immersive atmosphere, while noting some rustic limitations typical of a remote, historic-style property.

Guests often praise

  • Authentic and charming Medieval-themed quarters and décor, including cottages and the main castle.
  • Friendly, thoughtful, and helpful staff creating an accommodating and safe environment.

  • Variety of activities and entertainment such as board games, DVDs, a small library, and special events like murder mystery dinners.

Worth knowing

  • The rural, forested location means limited cell reception and no nearby walkable attractions, ideal for unplugging.

The location is a little rural so do not expect to be walking to anything nearby but I like that. Makes it a great place to disconnect for awhile. The main castle is beautiful and the cottages are all themed. Went to a murder mystery event by Moonlight Murders with a friend which was such a good time. All the food and drinks from the kitchen and pub were great and themed for the event. They have board games, DVDs and a little library to keep you entertained. The staff was so nice, thoughtful and amazing the whole time. I am definitely planning another trip.

My wife and I had a nice stay at Ravenwood. The staff were friendly, the room was very clean (we stayed in the Shakespeare Suite), and we felt very safe there. The power went out one night, and by the time my wife and I woke up to notice, the staff were already out there getting it taken care of. The castle itself and village are very nice and pleasant to walk around. The cats outside our room made our stay! Things to keep in mind if you decide to stay here: 1. It is 25-30 minutes away from most things to do in Hocking Hills 2. At least during the week, even though there were other people there, the castle was very quiet. Most times, no one was ever in the pub or the great hall and my wife and I would be alone. This just made it feel a little anti-climactic. 3. The castle was a little less romantic that we felt that it would be. There is a big focus on the board games and medieval theme, which just was a little different than we expected. 4. We really struggled sleeping given that it was only one big room and there was no escape. It would have been nicer to have gotten a bigger suite. These things are nothing against Ravenwood, but just things we personally felt, but for others these things may be just fine! Overall, we would give our stay a 7/10.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and it was so beautiful. The cell reception is poor but it's a great thing if you're interested in cutting out electronics and actually spending time with your family. The best part was feeling like I was in one of my time period romance novels, entertaining a castle and seeing all the beautiful things inside.

Delightful place to stay especially with kids or simply to get away. Relatively short drive to Hocking Hills and Lake Hope. The reason for a 4, not 5, is that our cabin lost heat in the middle of the night when temps dropped below freezing. No heat, minimal hot water (the little that was stored in the tank). Feet stuck to the floor as I exited the shower. It's one thing to clean and prepared a room. It is another to miss an empty propane tank.

We stayed in Cinderellas coach house for our “mini moon” after our wedding! It felt like entering a time machine and going back to the 90s/2000s - very little cell service, watching DVDs, playing board games. Our room was a bit outdated but very clean and well maintained, it was charming. We loved the castle cats!!! The food was great, we had breakfast, the great hall dinner and ate in the pub and everything was good and on theme for Valentine’s Day. The staff is very attentive and sweet. The weather wasn’t great so we couldn’t do much of the outdoors stuff so we started to get a little bored and had some cabin fever towards the end of our stay, but in the summer I can see it being a lot of fun! The tap water was not great for drinking imo, so I def recommend bringing your own drinks and snacks to have after hours. There is a dollar general about 10 min away that we ran to. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

Be prepared for a magical experience where you are pulled from your everyday life and the stresses around you and get ready to enjoy an amazing, unplugged getaway with a whimsical fantasy feel! From the kind and helpful staff, to the themed rooms, to the wonderfully amazing food and drinks, this place truly is one of a kind. My wife and I got married here and we were able to spend an intimate weekend with our closest friends and family and gave everyone an experience they will never forget. "Best wedding ever!" Was the sentence we heard most through the dining hall at breakfast the Sunday morning after the ceremony and reception. The location, the food and drinks, the staff, the game room, the wonderful amenities, and the beautiful and comfortable rooms; it just cannot be described! Thank you to everyone who was a part of making our stay and our wedding the most memorable weekend of our lives!
